![]() Noontec Media Player Firmware Free Trial DriverWhose bright idea was that? Some people have reported switching to manual time as the station their PVR gets the time from wasn't reliable not switching to DST for a week or two etc, or other stupidity.I guess once set the clock won't drift all that much, it's not like the stations keep to the schedule anyway. My annoyance is that if the signal gets a bit dodgy while recording, the V9 switches the timer status to 'pause', meaning it won't get recorded next week. I use ethernet rather than USB to copy, so who knows (LAN may be slow, but the copy files dialog is confusing & tedious). Maybe that's what the related boxes do for 'standby'.'Slow' confused the crap out of me when I first got the V9, I expected it to be slow play, instead the box appeared to crash.I've never had files disappear, I've had those occasional corrupt one due to things I'd done. Looks completely wrong, but that's DST for you.Interesting that 'slow' wakes up & then goes back to sleep, I did see that it turns the HDD & video off, even if the light stayed the same. I have successfully tested: recording from tv (1 channel only tested so far), waking from standby to record, internet tv channels and recorded names coming from epg. Installed on a 1008 serial machine with a 1tb drive in it. They also have special modified firmwares with a few more functions but I havent looked too closely.I installed the latest 4v gui firmware from this thread (not a beta gui either):And it seems to be working pretty good from my limited testing. It's hard enough at the moment trying to figure out what you're recording (no names, days) without adding offset times to the mix.To people who are dicking around with firmwares ,v4 and v3 GUIs, do you know the czech noontec site has a wealth of stuff on it:Just use google translate to find you way around. They have a lot more firmwares available than the official noontec.com site, you just have to sift through the various threads to find the links. ![]() If you like GUI's, you'll love it. 09.That actually works quite well better than the latest oz version. It misses activating several of the keys on the remote. I did, however, try both v4x_.08 and v4x_.09. Free registry repair for macDexter_010411.ts)! A BIG improvement. Nice! The programs are now recorded with their names, (e.g. The AV is now accessed via the "Guide" menu with its own icon next to the DTV icon. Instead, you can use it for getting directly back to DTV (or AV if that's where you were) from just about any other function. I actually prefer the oz interface, but that's just me.The "source" button no longer switches between DTV/AV. Not a big deal, but makes better sense. The timer setup is a bit different. If for no other reason, that alone was enough to convince me to make the switch. You now use the proper "Record" button to set the timer from the EPG rather than the "Option" button as per the oz version. You simply set the time to Greenwich + or - the number of hours, according to where you live. You choose. The recording times (on the EPG) are now correct for ALL stations, unlike the oz version, which listed some station in EST times and some in WST. I think it is a big improvement and I will definitely keep this version, at least until someone comes up with something better.Still not sure if it is going to, intermittently, delete my recordings when connected to the PC via USB (like the oz version did). Unfortunately, the fan still remains on at all times.Other than that, everything works pretty much as the oz version. Timed programs come on as scheduled and the box goes back to sleep afterwards. This function is probably even worse (uglier) than the oz version, but I can live with that. The standby works fine. OSK's always suck, ABC makes them suck worse. Next/Prev works as Page Up/Down in most places. The onscreen keyboard is now ABC, not QWERTY. It does seem to be a little snappier.Nice touches like pressing 'timer' shows the timer screen, pressing it again turns it off (before you had to hit return).Guide takes you to the main screen, there's less needing to browse thru endless menu options, and then keep hitting return to exit out.Left/Right arrow still doesn't control volume. If I get enthused I'll try the v5 one.As usual, some things are better, some worse, some just different. As a bonus the unit actually remembers what you set it to, many things don't.Many things missing from setup, eg picture brightness etc. Actually, pressing Option works in lots of places. Oddly, some channels seem to think the day starts at 9:00AM.One-off timers show the date, while repeating timers show the day (Sun,Mon). To flick between icon/list/preview you need to press 'Option'. Not quite +30/-10 adskip, but ok.
